SOCIAL PATHWAYS SURVEY - CARE MALAWI

JODIE FONSECA Dec 2003 – Oct 2004 CARE INTERNATIONAL IN MALAWI DOWA

The study documented the stages of HIV/AIDS progression, and the negative effect of denial, i.e., the conspiracy of silence has on: fueling the transmission of the disease, exacerbating the suffering of patients and their families during the disease infliction, and perpetuating the social stigma on the family survivors of aids victims. It also aimed at finding pathways leading away from the above 3 undesirable outcomes towards informed decision making and active agency based on the social responsibility embedded in the human rights approach
